The award

The Citizen of the Year Award is presented for outstanding Community Service over a period of time. The service must be voluntary and does not include service where there has been a connection to normal employment. Businesses, organizations and service groups are welcome to nominate individuals in recognition of their volunteer service.

2022 - Barry Frech

In addition to decades of dedication to the Ladysmith Celebration Society, Barry has dedicated hundreds of hours in service to various organizations around Ladysmith. These include the Kinsmen, the Show and Shine, the Forest Wardens, the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (back when it was under a different name), as well as multiple tours as a coach for softball and soccer.
